Privacy Notice (KVKK)

In accordance with Article 10 of the Law on Protection of Personal Data No. 6698 ("KVKK"), we provide the following information regarding the processing of your personal data.

1. Data Controller

2. Personal Data Processed

The following personal data is processed through the Platform:

  • Identity data: First name, last name
  • Contact data: Institutional email address (.edu.tr — for student verification)
  • Educational data: University, department, year of study
  • Professional data: For mentors — areas of expertise, experience, and profile information
  • Transaction data: Matching preferences, session records, evaluations
  • Technical data: IP address, session information, browser and device information

3. Purposes of Processing

Your personal data is processed for the following purposes:

  • Creating accounts and verifying identity
  • Conducting the mentee–mentor matching process
  • Scheduling mentorship sessions and generating Google Meet links
  • Sending notification and reminder emails
  • Ensuring platform security and preventing misuse
  • Fulfilling legal obligations

4. Legal Basis

Your personal data is processed under the following legal bases pursuant to Articles 5 and 6 of KVKK:

  • Explicit consent (KVKK Art. 5/1)
  • Performance of a contract (KVKK Art. 5/2-c) — membership and service provision
  • Compliance with a legal obligation (KVKK Art. 5/2-ç)
  • Legitimate interests of the data controller (KVKK Art. 5/2-f) — platform security

5. Transfer of Personal Data

Your personal data is shared only with the following parties and for the specified purposes:

  • Google LLC — Google Calendar/Meet infrastructure for mentorship sessions (generating meeting links)
  • Infrastructure/hosting service providers — Technical operation of the Platform
  • Authorized public authorities — When required by law

Matched mentees and mentors may access each other's profile information through the Platform.

6. Data Retention Period

Your personal data is retained until the purpose of processing ceases or the relevant legal retention period expires. Upon account deletion, data not subject to legal retention requirements will be deleted or anonymized.

7. Your Rights Under KVKK

Pursuant to Article 11 of KVKK, you have the right to:

  • Learn whether your personal data is being processed
  • Request information about processed data
  • Learn the purpose of processing and whether data is used accordingly
  • Learn the third parties to whom data is transferred domestically or abroad
  • Request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data
  • Request deletion or destruction pursuant to Article 7 of KVKK
  • Request notification of corrections/deletions to third parties
  • Object to outcomes arising solely from automated processing that are detrimental to you
  • Claim compensation for damages arising from unlawful processing
